William Carey University in collaboration with Grace City is continuing its efforts to offer innovative educational programs for the NE
Indian context. The unique integrated approach will bring education as well as economic development and eventually upliftment to the people of Meghalaya.
WCU will provide the academic programs and Grace City along with ACTS Group (the parent organisation of WCU) will be developing the
commercial operations. The strategic partnership will create job opportunities for all deserving students and eventually impact Meghalaya.
APEX Agro Food Products (India) Pvt. Ltd. and Lifeline Aqua Pvt. Ltd. (Fisheries) are now in deliberations with WCU/Grace City to develop
agro-businesses and aquaculture technologies. Representatives will visit the region over the next month. This collaboration will necessitate appropriate
academic training programmes that will lead to commercial opportunities with a major focus on entrepreneurship.
WCU and Grace City see this next year as a very critical year in its growth. Chancellor Ken Gnanakan states “WCU must emerge as a
distinctive institution where its degrees are not just valid because of an academic quality, but because of where it will lead the graduate towards. Economic
growth both for the individual and the community is essential and our collaboration with Grace City will assist in fulfilling this objective.”
WCU is preparing to meet the standards of UGC and will seek the recognition of its programmes at an appropriate time.
